A cheerful curly

A portrait of a cheerful curly, drawn with pastel pencils in combination with Pan Pastel.

Important contours are drawn with pencil, eyes get their first colors.

As a base for the skin I use Burnt Sienna and Red Iron Oxide from Pan Pastel.

By using different pink, beige and orange shades, in combination with feathers I create the shape of the nose and important shadows.

Soft red and pink tones fill the lips, vertical lines in titanium white provide a natural shine.

The hand gets the same technique as the skin, a base layer with PanPastel where I then draw shadows and highlights with different skin colors. The forehead is also covered with a layer of Pan Pastel, after which I draw the hair and lush locks with various ocher and bister shades, highlighted with white from Caran D'ache.

A nice challenge is the blouse with vertical lines. I draw the lines with titanium white, then color within these lines with different blue shades so that I create shadows and highlights. All this done with a nice feather.

Finally, the luscious locks receive attention.

I finish by brightening the curls with white from Caran D'ache and by drawing a few small curls on the forehead.
