A cheerful children's portrait drawn in pastel, combined with PanPastel.

Due to the high demand for portraits in pastel, I would like to let you enjoy this beautiful portrait in pastel of this sweet child's face. After drawing the contours of this cheerful child's face in pencil and drawing the eyes, I use Red Iron Oxide 380.8 and Burnt Sienna 740.8 from PanPastel as a basis for the skin color.

The blonde hair is based on the color Bistre 788.047, feathered and then lightened with light yellow 788.011 from Caran D'ache. The lips are filled in with soft pink tones and lightened with Pale Peach P150 or Titanium white, by drawing vertical lines on the lips.

On this base layer I use different skin colors, such as Dark flesh 788-741, 788-745, old pink 788-746 from Caran D'ache combined with other soft and warm pink shades.

All these colors gently flow into each other with a feather and so I create shadows, such as at the nose and corners of the mouth. Other parts of the face are then illuminated with warm or light pink tones, which you can see in the cheeks.

For the dress I first used a base layer of Titanium White 100.5 from PanPastel, where I then drew vertical lines alternating with Titanium white and light violet 788.631 from Caran D'ache.

Always nice to draw a happy child's face.
