Portrait based on PanPastel and pastel pencils.

Using PanPastel by Sonja Van Waeyenbergh

Just like in my previous blog, I would like to share this portrait drawing based on PanPastel combined with pastel pencils.

As always, first apply the contours with an HB pencil.

The eyes get their first coat.

The skin color is a combination of Burnt Sienna and Red Iron Oxide from Pan Pastel. Shadows and curves are finished with pastel pencils such as Herculanum red, violet pink, soft pink.

The blonde hair is drawn with Ocher shades (Bister) and lightened with Bismuth white. By gently feathering everything you get a fuller head of hair.

The glossy effect on the lips, are small vertical lines drawn in white and soft pink colors on the lower lip.

The same techniques were used to color the hand as for the face.

The little horse on the sweater is drawn first, only then is the sweater colored in different shades of green.

The light effect on the front of the sleeve is softly illuminated with white Pan pastel,

applied with a pallet-shaped sponge, over the green tones.

The stick of the lollipop is drawn with titanium white, light beige and gray tones provide the shadows.

Finally, smaller details are drawn, such as the hair straighteners.
