Now that the days are getting shorter and it is getting noticeably colder outside, we are taking the time to make our home warm and cozy. Christmas decorations, garlands and lights are placed on the Christmastree, ready to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Christmas wishes are given a nice place on Christmas cards and yes... how nice it is to give and receive the right gift.
I would like to invite you all to the Christmas market in St Joris Winge, on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.Together with other craftsmen and hobbyists, we try to make it fun so that you can find that one beautiful Christmas gift in a pleasant way.
In the meantime, I will show you a work that should put you in the right mood.

After drawing the contours of the face with an HB pencil, the skin of the face receives a base layer of Red Iron Oxide 380.8, combined with Burnt Sienna 740.8 from PanPastel. Different shades of pink and orange shades form the shadows of the face, which I lighten with light flesh 788–541 from Caran D'ache.
The Christmas bulbs and Santa hat are varying degrees of red tones.
You can achieve the reflected light in the Christmas bulb with soft pink and titanium white.
After drawing the candle, I use Bright Yell green ex.dark 680.1 and Bright Yell green Shade 680.3 from PanPastel to draw the branches of the Christmas tree by drawing lines with a PanPastel sponge.
The Christmas tree takes shape from dark green to light green, pine needles are illuminated with light green.

The background is also colored with different brown shades from PanPastel, and then brightened around the candlelight with Yellow Ocher 270.5 from PanPastel.
Finally, the garment is colored in the same way as the Santa hat in varying degrees of red tones, taking into account points of light and shadow.
The white part of the Santa hat is a combination of Titanium White 100.5 and Paynes Gray 840.8 from PanPastel, and is finished with Titanium white from Conté.
Hopefully I will see you on December 1 in St. Joris Winge, then you can view this work too.
