Blog July '24: Pastel drawing of a boy who wants to tie his shoes + invitation to Mon Mol Martre

Beautiful memories from the past, which get a special place, on a pastel drawing of 50x70cm, based on Pan Pastel and pastel pencils.

As a basis for the skin color I use Red Iron Oxide and Burnt Sienna from PanPastel, where I further draw with different pink and beige shades, shadows and highlights. The T-Shirt and the shorts are also based on PanPastel, here I use the same techniques as with the skin colors. I create depth in the folds of the T-Shirt and the Shorts by brightening them with Titanium white from PanPastel.

You can achieve details in the shoes by using different shades of brown, which are then highlighted with light gray and white.

I will certainly pay attention to the background, small details such as shadows of the pebbles and important points of light receive attention. The play of light and shadow gives you depth in your drawing.

I would like to invite you to the Art Event Mon Mol Martre, which will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, August 4 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Along the banks of the Nete you will find more than 200 artists who perform their arts 'live' at the art event. You will find painters, sculptors, draftsmen, photographers, jewelry designers, glassblowers, dancers and much more. The route starts at the Markt, past De Zwaan, 't Oud Gemeentehuis and the Sint-Pieter en Pauwelkerk, the Moldersbok park and the Wandelweg along the banks of the Nete, part of the Hofstraat up to the watermill.

I will also be there with my latest new works. I hope to see you then.
