New work in progress - a Border Collie in Pastel

This Pastel drawing is of a Border Collie, with a dark fur, a type of dog that you often see at dog competitions, this is another nice challenge for me. For the fur I use different grays combined with brown tones, such as dark and light Frenche Gray from Derwent, along with brown tones from Caran D'ache.

The nose is a combination of light and dark grays, highlighted with white and light pink.

For the dark parts in the snout, I use the same colors as in the fur. Dark hairs under the nose are slightly feathered, so I get the effect that they are a little deeper.

As the drawing progresses, colors are brought together layer by layer, taking into account the direction of the hairs of the fur.

Towards the end of the drawing, I use Derwent Chinese White to lighten parts of the fur.

I recommend regularly evaluating a drawing and taking time to view the drawing from a distance. As soon as I am satisfied with the result, the drawing is provided with a passe-partout, framed and it can be sent to its owner.
